How can you explain "Taking pride in exceeding people's expectations"?

Answer:
It's called "external validation," where the acceptance of other people drives you to fulfill and/or exceed their perceived expectations. "Internal validation" is where your desire to meet your own personal goals, needs, and expectations provides you with satisfaction on its own. If you set your own expectations higher than those of other people, you can achieve both.
If a teacher gives you 5 books to read, and you read them all and she is pleased with you and appraises you with recognition and the feeling that you get is the pride from exceeding her expectations
I think it simply means.someone gains pride in proving people wrong. When someone doubts you, it increases your pride and self esteem by exceeding their expectations of you.did that help??
