Well, I do know about "Brujeria" also known as "Santeria" which are from Puerto Rico, Cuba and Dominican Republic originally from Africa (brought by slaves many years ago), that worship certain saints and spirits that, could be used for doing bad and protecting yourself from the bad doing certain rituals with animals, candles, certain prayers, sometimes food and plants. One of my mom's aunts used me to harm my mother by using a doll that represented me, she controlled my mind and spirit, during that time, I was really rebel and often was hospitalized in mental hospitals, because nobody could explain how an Honor Roll student turned into a crazy teenager. Then I traveled to Puerto Rico, my native country, and saw this Lady, and she did some ritual on me, since then I have been more calm and me and my mother are getting along great. If people know what they are doing, yes, it does work. But like that lady told me "if you use it to harm others, everything will come back seven times worser on you, you will suffer more that they suffered", now my mom's aunt is very ill, is overweight, crazier than I was and she is suffering way more than I did, so I suggest you use it to protect yourself from the bad.
Spells and prayers are essentially the same thing. No, you ARE NOT asking the devil for anything. That's a bunch of baloney. In a spell, you are gathering and focusing your personal energy and asking the Divinity in the Universe to direct it to a specific purpose. And it had better be a darn positive purpose for you and you alone or it will backfire. And you have to follow up by doing the work to achieve your goal. It doesn't just happen.
You must establish a mindset for your requst, same as you would if you were going to church to pray. You must be very clear about what you want, and want it very much. You must understand that the Universe works in its own time and its own way, and sometimes the magic works and sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it works in a way you didn't expect. You must leave yourself open to all the possibilities. Release the request/spell/prayer and ALWAYS express gratitude and expect your request to be answered even if it's not the one you thought you wanted. A spell is not a collection of specific words, or the right color candles or herbs or anything else. Those items only serve to help you focus on your intent, and should have meaning only to you. Proper spellcasting takes practice. I know they work because I've done them for years, and I don't take it lightly. I've had stuff happen that made no sense. I don't cast spells for frivolous things, and honestly, they don't always work. So I take it as a sign that what I want is something I'm not meant to have at the moment, and go back to working for it the hard way. I only tell those who understand.
