Just had a thought...?
i believe my struggle with depression has caused me to seek happiness through foolish and impulsive behavior. it's troubling because foolish and impulsive behavior leads often to regrets, remorse, and shame.
thoughts?
Answer:
You have a good start on that thought... take it a litte farther try seeking happiness through seeking things that are going to stick with you for life. Such as gaining true knowledge, peace of mind, education, self expression, give of your self to others. helping and being open to be helped. creating bonds with other humans tha can bring you joy and lifelong enjoyment.
Regrets, remorse and shame are better than depression, on balance
maybe you should go to the doctor and get some anti-depressants. both of my parents are on them and they are both much happier now.
yes, I have a thought...*smacks upside the head* Snap out of it! If you need medication take it. Think about whatever consequences you need to think about before you do it. Mostly, decide that you are better than this foolish impulsive behaviour and act accordingly. It's difficult sometimes, but find out what your character is and concentrate on honor and integrity, and that will shape your behaviour nicely. Good luck.
You just decribed your belief. Our thoughts? That you just described your belief. Do we agree with you? We don't know you.
Did you have an actual question?
"seek happiness" That isn't the correct term. You are looking for instant gratification to counter act your depression. Go to the doctor and get help.
You are not alone, even people that do not suffer from depression often do impulsive, foolish things. It is the learning process of life. I am older and still learning-and, unfortunately, sometimes foolish. Human nature.
Sounds like you may be bi polar to me. Impulsive behavior is one of the many symptoms of mania, which is one half of the bi polar condition. I would see a psychiatrist immediately before things get worse. Also, read the info in the link I provided below. There's lot of good stuff.
You've described your problem. Now you need to find a solution. Try to get balance.....
