What do nightmares mean?

i have heard dreams mean things what do my nightmares about swarms of things(bees, wasps, spiders) mean?

also what does it mean when u have dreams of demons and things like that?

AND... what if you dont dream at all does that mean something?

Answer:
Well nightmares usually correlate with very high or very low serotonin levels (mood neurotransmitter that also controls dreams), high (stress) cortisol levels, low (happiness) endorphin levels, and heightened activity in the amygdala (instinctive fear and aggression part of the brain) instead of just the hippocampus (mood and memory part of the brain) and prefrontal cortex (part of the brain that interprets reality, and when you dream it tries figure out what the hell's going on). So nightmares usually happen when the last 24 hours have been very stressful (i.e. problems at work, high fever, messed up relationships etc...), and what dreaming does is it converts your short-term 24 hour (conscious) memory and sends it to the part of the brain that controls long term memory (the subconscious) kinda like a computer. These memories can be attached to either positive or negative emotions, so as you can guess the more negative emotional memories you've had in the last 24 hours, the more likely you are to have a nightmare when you go to sleep. What it means is you've been using the amygdala (fear/stress part) too much so it plays in a loop all of the other fear related memories you've had ever since you were born.
When this kind of stuff happens you really need to cut down the stress in the day and just sit back and chill out, maybe do some cardio or weight training workouts, or if you want something like meditation or yoga. Either way everyone's had these kind of nightmares and they only come due to some sort of stress/anxiety.
You are watching scary movies and you need to pray... ask Jesus to protect you as you sleep ... It work's for me..
Means you've overdone it with the Cheese.
Hey, im also really interested in stuff like this so i bought a book :)
nightmares are of course classified as 'dreams' too...
im told that dreams can be very specific and if you can find a website or a book yourself then you can look up an object in your dream and it will give you an explanation..
also, there is no time at which we do not dream, can you believe it! apparently we have tens or hundreds of dreams every night and remembering one or two is all to do with stuff like 'what you ate before bed', and 'how good of a sleep you had'...'oh and also what you were thinking or watching on tv before going to sleep' so not to worry, often the things in your dreams do not mean what you think...
Nightmare refers to a dream which causes the sleeper a strong unpleasant emotional response. It typically feature fear or horror, and/or the sensations of pain, falling, drowning or death. They can be related to physiological causes, such as a high fever; psychological ones, such as unusual trauma or stress in the sleeper's life; or commonly for no apparent cause. Nightmares can be so stressful as to suddenly wake the sufferer in a state of distress, which may prevent falling back to sleep for some time.
Do you go to steep in a good mood? If so you are good.
If not you might have a problem. Don't worry about any thing
when you go to sleep. Because tomorrow will be a shiny day.
Don't you know that everybody dreams when they go to sleep, some would probably say "i didn't dream at all because i'm totally drunk..or tired..." this facts is according to neuro-psychologist, that everytime we sleep no matter if it is long or short is immaterial, because we dream the only problem is we cannot remember them.

Dreams of insect like yours(bees, wasps, spider) could be triggered by the mere fact that you watch a certain movie regard the subject, or you have natural fear in them like mine, I am so fearful of snakes sometime around when I watch the movie SNAKE ON THE PLANE, i dream i have a snake on my bed, or being chase by one viper or something. I assume it doesn't mean anything, it is just telling us psychologically that we feel fear everywhere and everytime. Just human I suppose. But dreams have so many interpretation some of which are so ridiculous, probably we seldom believe it. Demons and goblins are also some of mine, for me it simply show that there is God, and it reminds me to pray everytime I go to sleep. Never wonder why people associated sleeping and praying, sometimes we shall have the calling sort of when we go to the deepest slumber in our bed, and never woke up. Don't that come around you when you begin to sleep? Don't worry about dreaming just like they say...keep on dreaming but keep your feet on the ground.
When an incident takes place it goes to memory.
It is the intensity of the incident which determines the life of memory related to the incident.
Intensity of the incident is influenced by our religious, social and other beliefs and the difference of weight and importance we give to different things around us.
When we go to sleep our subconscious comes up. It is a process of memory recall.
The nature of memories so recalled or even no memory recall during sleep depends upon our current psychological and mental condition.

Thus nightmares, in no way, involve any mystery which can effect our life or future. What the benefit we can derive out of it is that nightmares and dreams reveal how we think and act as a result and it gives us the opportunity to review our thinking and resultant actions to make these rational.
