Hypnosis for real?
Is hypnosis is for real, can anybody send me a link from where I could download a hypnosis MP3 vocal.

There are two schools of thought: Yes, it is a different state of mind, or trance, or No, it is just that the volunteer becomes more suggestible.
My original assumption was that yes, of course hypnosis is real. However, there is little evidence of an altered state of mind. Volunteers do play along, but is more from a sense of feeling they have to than an altered state of mind.
Hypnosis is akin to stage magic in that both performer and volunteer collude in suspending disbelief. Few people in a theatre would stand up and say "Romeo and Juliet aren't really in love, they're just actors!". And the same is true for magicians or hypnotists. People play along with the idea, indeed many believe there is an altered state of consciousness, but there is little evidence to show that there is.
The famous UK based hypnotist even testified in court arguing that hypnosis was not really an altered state of mind.
It is undeniably true that people under hypnosis act and do certain things they would not otherwise do. But most serious psychologists believe this is more to do with social conditioning, and playing along for the good of the show than anything else. Derren Brown's excellent book "Tricks of the Mind" discusses the matter further and reiterates the points I have made

I think hypnosis works I have been put under twice the first time i cuddled a pink elephant and the second i actually stripped off to me boxer shorts.
Point is when i asked the hypnotist what makes a good subject he said anyone with a good imagination.
