Define hypothesis as used in markerting research?

Answer:
marketing research, in a business sense, does not include hypotheses. it is conducted to explore and understand the customer better. you may have initial ideas about your customers, but these are not officially called hypotheses in marketing research. you are exploring, rather than confirming something. hypotheses would have meaning in an academic sense, which may also include marketing as a field of study.
An assertion that a specific aspect of the product is relevant to its saleability can be proposed.

For example, an assertion can be made that young adults between the ages of thirteen and eighteen are the primary users of the product.

That hypothesis can then be tested empirically.
