Do you feel that people cross the lines a lot these days?
This is a dumb question to me, because most things that people do these days are inapropriate, but I know humans aren't perfect. Where do you cross the line? What do you not do because you know better, and what do you do because you know it's the right thing to do?
Answer:
Your last question sounds like rocket science for me so I will just state my opinion on the matter;). I think people are getting more and more frustrated for the exact same thing you think people are, and that is that they are not perfect. The world is running 100-miles an hour, people are trying to fit everything in their perfect little schedules and get frustrated when they cannot manage everything. They always want more and then some more and then just plainly MORE! Their childhood is painted by parents who had the same life and never had time for the kid and the kid thought if he was perfect his parents would have more time, years pass, and guess what, you tried to be perfect, failed, your parents never gave you the love you wanted and you think you are a failure. To protect yourself, you put on a social mask and start crossing the lines. It's like a defence mechanism. It's the sick state of humanity nowdays. I think it will only get worse, that's why one of the things that is TRULY hard to find these days is true love, since everyone is trying so damn hard to be someone else.
I'm a Christian, so I don't swear. I mean, yes occasionally I'll say "crap" but anything else sounds extremely vulgar to me. It really irks me when people do it around children. What kind of message does that give them?
Here is my opinion. People these days are putting so many different meanings behind things ..that no matter what someone does, it crosses someone line. People in America are so judgemental..and if what one does doesnt meet "their idea of right"..then they are wrong. So many people worry about others..that they forget to take care of themself, and make sure they are in the good. There is no Right or Wrong ... its what we make it mean that makes it Right or Wrong. Things are what they are... and as our society becomes more judgemental... there are going to be a lot more people that "cross the line"..
I think this is a good question because right now in history, in our country-- etiquette, manners, decorum-- whatever you want to call it is in short supply. This is my personal belief anyway- is that people just aren't very polite. First, others: others cross the line with me in that they ask me about my personal business as if its their right to know. Or, complaining a lot. The real world is tough-- you've got people working 40 hrs or more/ week. People who hate their jobs and than go out and drink in order to forget how much they work. The corporations all got greedier and greedier and they cross the line on their workers. Granted there are a few exceptions but I'm not going to name companies here.
And now to me: I cross the line in many ways I'm sure. One way that comes to mind is when I drive-- I tend to use my horn alot, honking at people in other cars since I've been known to get agravated behind the wheel. I've done somethings right though. I believe its important to be polite and have manners so I try to be kind with everyone I can-- whether at the grocery store, on the telephone, or neighbors.
Everyone crosses a line or two and not because they're human and they aren't perfect but because we have made it so acceptable for people to be more outspoken. People (not all) no longer care about what's "right" or "appropriate." There are a few of us, however, that realize just because we have the freedom of speech, sometimes it's best to hold our tongues. What do I not do because I know better? I don't lecture my grandfather on his racist views. He came from a different time and knows no other way. What do I do because I know it's the right thing? I hold people accountable for their own words and actions when they need to be called out on their wrongdoings.
