How do people get so mean?

Because you are a good person and they are miserable, and it makes them feel better about themselves to bring you down. I bet you are a very pretty and bubbly person. Miserable people hate that. You will meet them everywhere you go, sweetheart. Just avoid them, and surround yourself with people you like and care about, and who care about you.
They probably weren't born mean, but had issues or circumstances that made them this way. Don't judge them based on this, try to find out what's troubling them or what was troubling them in their past. Please, don't judge.
It may come from the way they were raised. Some people who have absent parents are never taught morals and values. They are left to raise themselves the only way they know how.
They are mean because they are afraid and trying to hide their fear. There's nothing to fear but fear itself. Ignore them. They don't want anyone close to them anyway.
People don't care anymore. They are out for themselves and anyone that gets in their way will get knocked down. Society has taught us not to talk to strangers, so nobody hardly ever says hello anymore. God forbid there be anything wrong with a person such as being fat, disfigured, or a little slow...that's when the true hate comes out. Instead of being nice to someone and helping them, we are taught to pick on them and single them out. I know what you are saying, and I wish people were nicer too. Be who you are and set an example, you never know who might be watching! :)
Hey Jezzika, Josh from Sarasota, FL USA well all depends on how people are brought up as kids, some parents are not responsible as other parents, lot time people have bad day at work take out on there kids sometimes, which is bad, sometimes it might be a nut out on the road, highway, or interstate that just cut you off, road rage has lot to do with it to, I recommend all kids to give your mom and dad a break as soon as you see them come through the door, means give them break for a hour or 2 before you ask them for something.
