Why do people swear so much?

Stormy, you should at least know how to SPELL swear words before you start SAYING them.
I do not swear. I can probably count on 2 hands how many times in my whole life I've done that and I'm in my early 40's.
I don't understand the point of it! I know someone that every other word out of their mouth is the 'f' word and that's just in normal everyday talk, not like he's mad or anything. I've never understood it.
Plus I know it makes God upset. I try my best to live for Him and I know I fail miserably in SOOOO many ways, but this is one that I can do pretty good at NOT doing!!

because its in their vocabulary, just like the words i, me and want, and they are angry a lot, or swear words provide emphasis, instead of "thats awesome"- "thats f*ck*n awesome"
LACK OF VOCABULARY, THAT IS THE MAIN RESAON PEOPLE SWEAR AS THEY DO.
think of swearing as spice to the english language.
I just like the way I feel when doing it. I am careful where I use it, but at times it's the only thing:)

I don't swear and at this time there aren't any people I am spending time with who are swearing but I have been around them before. It has always seemed to me that it is easier for them to spit out swear words that are uncomplicated words but oh so nasty to hear by bystanders. They appear to have just made swear words part of their language and in this way they don't have to raise their mind up to a higher level to think of more sophisticated words to use. It becomes a habit. I think also they think they are going to get attention from using them and they are "fillers" for what they don't know how to say using good language.
yes sometimes a bad word just dose the trick . it feels better to say bleep bleepty bleep bleep than oh gosh darnit. but there is a right time and a wrong time for every thing. i wont swear in front of my kids or grandma or if someone is offended by my saying them i will apologize and try to remember not to. and people who swear casually just dont know any other way to express them selves they have no vocabulary
Maybe you can show us an example then?
Write a sentence with a swear word in it and then show us all how it might be written minus the profanity. I'm sure it will be much more sophisticated and intelligent, showing off what great vocabulary the swearing population apparently lack.
I'm sure it will also get the same feeling across that the swearer intended.

People think it's cool. Sure swearing sometimes is ok but EVERY SECOND WORD IS TOO MUCH! It kind of loses it's effect if you swear so often.
It makes some people feel powerful to swear. With others I just think it becomes a habit.
My dad used to tell me that only unimaginative people felt compelled to swear all the time.
