What is the most inspirational thing you have witnessed?
Can be a quote, music, a scenario, just want ppl to share.
Answer:
The first time I participated in a 150-mile charity bicycle ride, the crowd was all watching the nighttime presentation and I noticed an old man in front of me with bib #5 on, meaning that he was one of the top fundraisers there.
During the show, we were all asked to stand up and applaud ourselves, and we went through a "sit-down" tally of the yongest and oldest riders there. The youngest was 5 years old, and the oldest was the guy in front of me, who was 84!
We all stood up again, and if it was your first MS-150 you sat down. Then if it was your second, sit down. Third, fourth, and so on, until they came to the small handful of people who had ridden every one of the past 16 MS-150 bicycle tours.
The old man in front of me was still standing.
Maybe it means more to me than to you, but just imagine! 84 years old, was born during the Great Depression, lived through a World War and numerous conflicts all over the world, and STILL had the spirit to ride a bicycle 150 miles for the past 16 years!
THAT MAN became my hero that night! If I can still enjoy myself on a bicycle when I'm in my 80's in spite of all the crap life has thrown at me, I WIN as far as I'm concerned!
A good family friend was diagnosed with melanoma 8 years ago. The cancer was eating away nearly every organ in his body and the doctors gave him an estimate of 6 months to live. He was strong and did everything he could to make the best of things. He just passed away this year. It made me realize that people can accomplish anything, despite what obstacles come their way.
RIP Scott.
I saw a birth under the most extreme circumstances. It was a miracle. Still a miracle, she survived.
i saw a baby maggot crawl out of a piece of rotton meat once.
www.al-amana.org an islamic perspective on what the purpose is to life and why god created humanity.
My brother was a drug addict for 35 years. God changed him just because of prayer to ask Jesus to intervene in his life.
On Oprah, a little boy named Matte. I can't remember his last name...Seporick. Well, he was the last survivor of his siblings and has since passed on from MS (?) Anyway, he was like an angel - didn't show fear, only compassion, acceptance, and hope for others. He was only 11 when his first book of poems was published.
Seriously, on Oprah's 40th anniversary DVD set, there's a section called "Heart prints"; WATCH IT for inspiration. I did in a college class a couple years ago and EVERYONE started crying. I'm serious, it can change your life because you will not be able to view your hard situations the same. I still watch that DVD every so often to keep my heart in the right place and put struggles back in perspective.
