Is being naive inherited or genetic?

For example, my mom was telling me that my sister is naive, but it seems to me that she is naive because my mom raised her that way. As in she sheltered her from life, and never explained things to her, and never really taught her certain things. Then again it seems like being naive could be part genetics. Im just upset because people shouldn't be raised to be naive. They should have life taught to them, and be allowed to experience certain aspects of life, so they can have a great general understanding of things. What do you think?

I think it mostly has to do with how someone is raised. The people in life I have met that were naive also did not have much common sense.

I think its environmental - a lot of people think that girls should be naive and protected from the cold cruel world. It makes them better housewives and easier to control. So they teach them some things and avoid other things.

But then again - if your sis really wanted to know things - she would go out and learn them - everyone goes to school and is exposed to the world. My parents wanted me to be innocent and pure and sheltered from the world - aka naive - but I had a sense of adventure. I am much happier this way - knowing things... having experienced the good times as well as the bad and ugly times.

Maybe your sister likes being naive - there is something about it that makes a girl feel safe. Kinda twisted - but still - some people get anxious easier and need a simpler lifestyle.

I don't think being naive is either inherited or genetic. I think it is more of a personality thing. We all have unique characteristics that make up our personality and despite our upbringing some people just make decisions that are not intelligent ones. I believe we all have or have had a naive moments in our lifetime and to overcome that is to attain life expeerience. You can't experience everthing within a specific time frame. Some people learn faster than others.

My sister is the same, my mom treated her "to be" naive.
Sure she got a bad fever attacked when she was only 6 months old, and she was slow... not retarded ...Just slow.
Finally she rebbeled after her husband dumped her, and now she is somewhere which I dont really know where, my mom too, cant reach her any more except when she called once a week.

Genetic? Maybe ...but the cause is more from mall nutrician I supposed. I find lots naive peoples in poor and remote areas and among the indigenous people , their food are poor and intermarriage among families.
Inherited? I thought it was just a mith.
