Help!! What does "love," the word, mean to you?
Answer:
Love means many different things to many different people. To me, love is the emotional connection you feel with another person whether you mean Paternal Love or Romantic Love or just being able to love the people around you.
In general, love translates to me as the divine care of humanity. If you care about somebody enough to want the best for them and possibly worry about them, is that not what love is?
As far as romance is concerned: To me, this type of love is the most intense, not only do we choose this person to love, but we are perhaps thinking about loving them for the rest of our lives, and if life is all we've got, that's a long time in our perspective. To me, romantic love is not necessarily the desire to be with that person at all times or to be exactly like them; however those may be part of it depending on the person. Love is the ability to accept the person as they are and to grow with them as you embrace a future and work together towards common goals. Love is the feeling that even on your worst days, you're smiling inside when you're with this person. It's really hard to put into words, but even still... love is.

but then again when were we ever not...
I assume we're talking about people, not things. For me, love is a rare thing, but very simple in definition. (you'll get different opinions)
Love is when I care about someone more than I actually care about myself. (and that's a tall order!) Am I willing to put off my own wants now and then for that person? Would I sacrifice myself for their preservation?
If the answer is no, then it isn't love. I may like them. I may like them a whole lot. But if I'm not willing to put them on a level of my own self-interest (or above), then it isn't love.
Meaning of Love:
If its bcuz of her eyes or her lips or her great body its not love… its LUST.
If its bcuz of her intelligence or insight about life, its not love..its ADMIRATION
If its bcuz she cries every time u try to leave, its not love…its PITY
If its bcuz she makes u forget to work and sleep, its not love… its INFATUATION
Love is when you don’t know why u seem to be attracted to a person…
Love has its reasons ..and that reason is UNKNOWN.
Love means that someone needs me. They look beyond my eccentricities and see what is really there.
From the view of a social misfit I really do appreciate those who don't always want answers and understand that there are quite a few things that can't be explained fully. In short I suppose they let me be me. We feel comfortable with each other. To me this is love.

Love to me is a word I feel. Deep within my heart, it makes me want to protect people, help them, be happy and celebrate with them when they are happy, cry with them when they are sad. It is something I feel very deeply when I look at my children, it is something I feel deeply in a romantic kind of way with other dimensions too of closeness and the years we have been together when I look at my Husband. When I say I love my husband and children deeply it means I care for them so much I would do anything for them. I can also say I love my Mother deeply and my Father too. Love also has different levels to me, sometimes it is deep other times enough to say I care but I never feel completely without love in my heart. Love if it could be explained in one word is compassion, compassion for those close to you and those around you. It also makes the world a better place.
Love is a decision. To care so much for a person that their happiness and well being comes before your own.
taking care
Love is when you care more about the well-being of someone else, than you do your own.
warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion , BUT DOESN'T EXIST THESE DAYS
Friend,
Observe the Moon and Moon light. It falls equally on places and people good or bad.
Observe the Sun Light similarly it falls equally on all places and people good or bad.
there is no discrimination of good and bad.
Similarly THE LOVE from a loving person emanates and covers all good and bad equally with out discrimination and expects nothing in return.
It means ambiguity on an intellectual level. Emotionally, it's something that it's impossible to live without. Since, when I'm in love--life as I knew it is suddenly altered. There is nothing on earth that can compare with the feeling in reciprocity. But this is just the tip of the ice berg. There is SO VERY much that one does not know about it, that it becomes quite mind boggling in retrospect. Life without love, or the prospect of it, leaves much to be desired! And desire is something that I wish to resist altogether. One cannot help bu feel torn at the whole mess.
