I've heard of fainting at the sight of blood. You also see sometimes fighters actually fight harder or more vicious at the sight of their own or their opponents blood. When I say insane I don't mean subtle insane like talk to yourself insane either I mean roaring laughter and viciousness.

They just do that because they know they're close to winning.
In the case of the fighters, I think that they tend to start fighting more vociferously because they perceive that they need to end it before the blood loss becomes an energy depleting issue.
I think that it is more of a rational and calculated decision, rather than an emotional one. This type of reaction is probably ingrained into them by their trainers.
