Why do some people feel the need to criticize others questions?

Occasionally I see a question that people just rip apart to shreds. If you think it's so stupid, why bother wasting your time looking at it and answering it. Is it about an ego trip? Do they get satisfaction out of making other people feel like crap? I hope they realize that they can seriously hurt people's feeling sometimes.
And, no, it hasn't happened to me- Yet.

Yea, the only thing I can think of it that they are like 10 years old and just want to feel cool. It's easy to criticize someone when you can hide behind a fake name and a cartoon picture.

EDIT: I think it is stupid, but apparently everyone else does too because they always end up with about 10 thumbs down!
They don't have good answers and their minds are poisened by the waste of distortion.
