Any tips on concentration?
I continually procrastinate, always have about 1000 thought running round my head at any one time, and can't seem to concentrate on anything. It's got progressively worse over the last couple of years. I think certain stressful situations in the last couple of years have just turned my brain to mush.
It's not very good... Especially as I can't concentrate on anything at work!
Any ideas on how to focus more and how to keep concentration on something for more than five minutes?

the thing that works really well for me is making a list of things that have to get done today, tomorrow, etc. break the list up into manageable chunks, with breaks in between. the breaks in between should be short, like little rewards.
figure out the things you're doing to procrastinate and stop them.. like if you compulsively check your email, close your email until you finished 2 or 3 things and then check it during a break.
as you start taking things off the list one by one, you'll start feeling the pressure go down because you're actually making progress.
Try meditation classes, you'll be amazed how you can slow your thoughts down with a little practice
It sounds like you have ADD. You should ask your doctor about this and see if they can get you some medication to help. In the meantime, STOP procrastinating. Don't make up excuses to yourself just STOP. It will make things so much easier. For me, it helps my concentration if I have something to do with my hands while I work. Try a small piece of clay, a stress ball, or even knitting! Good luck!
I take fish oil supplements which have helped loads. Prior to that my mind would wander off and I couldn't remember why I had entered a room ie gone to put something away. Much better now. It used to really annoy me and I would have to re-trace my steps, often found that I had a trail of unfinished things.
actually, you have to do a few things... exercise and/or find a sport... these activities will actually help you to sharpen your mental focus. and change of diet if you're not eating healthily. Include rawfood, lots of vegies and fruits and nuts and minimal amounts of meat.
you need to clear the junk out of your brain & try to concentrate on the thoughts at hand

1,close ur eyes 2, take deep breathing 3, then count down 30 to 0 , then open ur eye, 4,concntrate eney narrow object 3 or 5 minuts , 5 then close ur eyes (at that time ur mind is soo good) after one minuts . ur able to concentrate ur job , ok thx
Keep a notebook handy and write all the things that fly thro and disturb concentration. That way you can relax on the job at hand, knowing that you wont forget about the other stuff as it will be written down to be dealt with at the appropriate time. Breathing exercises will also help keep you calm and able to work after your brain has slowed down.There are some good meditation cds on the market as well which will help you to calm down and can be incorporated into your lifestyle This can also help lower stress levels too. Remember to get a good nights sleep before work too and always take time for breakfast.
This is the worst place to ask that since most of the people on here (me included) should probably be concentrating on something else right now :)
