sometimes, I think it depends on the revelant issues, and it is also an individuals perception of those issues, for example if you really wanted to give up smoking , then yes they can be very motivational and supportive, I think your mindset at the time has a lot to do with it
Yes. It would really depend on the speaker, the subject and the listener. If the person listening has no desire to be motivated or specifically is going to show that they aren't going to be motivated then many times they don't motivate. They work best when the people already know the material being said but it is presented in a novel fashion.
Yes, they motivate for like five minutes and then it slowly wears off.
