When I ask a question about pride, why does everyone try to give me a proud answer?



Answer:
People in general wish to make themselves feel more important. I am guilty of such charges on a regular basis; what exactly can an old man hope to offer in this world? And yet, I find ways to convince myself that I can yet advise others and work toward a greater purpose. This may indeed be what you would, say, describe as a proud answer. People on this site in particular make their answers proud so as to create the illusion of intellect; they want to sound more knowledgable so that you will choose their answer as best. The same holds true for society in general, where people use their pride to gain power and support, even when their qualifications are weak.
They perceive that you want to be proud of yourself.

They are just relaying their methodologies for being proud of themselves and are hoping that these techniques will work for you.
