Answer:
Kathy K is right. You don't say much about your personal relationship with the VP and Owner of the company. Could it be, maybe, that you are expecting too much from these people? It may be that the VP and Owner are simply trying to maintain a professional relationship with their employees only. Beyond that, personal relationships between employer and employees can get quite complicated. My guess is that you have taken their seemingly lack of sensitive as a reflection upon yourself. I don't really think that is the case, however. Don't place so much emphasis on personal feedback. Look for quality professional feedback instead. If you get performance evaluations, check them out and see how you stand with the organization. If you gotten pay raises during your seven years with the company, that's a good indicator of your personal and professional worth. Seek out better ways to improve your standings and work performance with the company. Take note of those that are getting the attention that you desire and what approach works for them. Don't take personal interactions on the job so seriously. If you have been with this particular organization for seven years, you're obviously doing something right, As a result, you have the potential to gain note worthy attention. Develop a plan, then make it work.
Good luck
I think you have marketable skills. You can find another job that pays more, perhaps. It's time to start looking. But don't advertise that to your company.
Sounds like you need to find another job
With 7 years experience, you should be able to find another job no problem.
Leaving a nice city is hard, but u have to ask yourself 'why are u staying?'
Aww sweety, you SHOULD be valued as a seven year employee!! I would REALLY consider moving to somewhere else where your skills and devotion would be appreciated, and maybe when you hand in that 2 weeks notice, they will realize what a gem they lost!
If you MUST stay in your city, go and talk to your companies VP or owner if it is a small company, tell him you can not believe that 7 years have passed, and that you enjoy your job with them, but you really would like to take on more responsibilities, or spend more time working in another part of the company to advance your skills, get feedback from them..sometimes good solid workers get a back burner to those who are more vocal!
