One of my friends seems really touchy/sensitive even when i try to make her feel better about something or am?
Answer:
She sounds like someone who is somewhat insecure and is reluctant to accept any perceived false compliments.
She may feel that you are not being totally honest with your comments.
If you want to remain her friend and be her roommate, then you will need to modify your behavior somewhat so that she will feel more comfortable around you and so that she will eventually become more receptive to your positive comments.
She just needs reassurance that you are being a good friend and confidant when you compliment her.
I would suggest that you just broach the subject directly and tell her that you simply feel that you are good friends and that good friends compliment each other and confide in each other. Tell her that you want to prove to her that you are being completely honest with her.
In the short term, you will need to change your approach to communicating with her if you want to have a good friendship.
Consider it a temporary sacrifice for a long term friendship.
It's her that must get over her self-esteem issues. Maybe she was abused as a child. How well do you know her? Maybe you should sit down with her and have a heart-to-heart. It sounds like she really need a friend to share some deep dark secrets with!
