I'm a MAJOR procrastinator and i need help.?
Answer:
I have experienced the same problems. In college, I regularly woke up at 2 AM to cram before an 8 AM final exam. Stupid, stupid. The way I eventually got over this was by analyzing how we motivate ourselves.
There are only two motivating factors that drive us towards performing any action in life: the fear of punishment, or the promise of a reward. In your case, you need to either establish a reward system for every time that you finish work ahead of schedule, or a punishment system so that you make yourself suffer each time you procrastinate. You may need outside help from parents or others to make this work. Rewards could include money or treating yourself to something you have wanted for a long time; punishment could include denying yourself time with friends or a special purchase you were looking forward to.
I'll get back to you on that later. (Sorry I couldn't resist)
I'll get back to you.
I'll answer this question later.
The only way to get over it is practicing to do things when you feel like procrastinating. If you feel like not doing your homework, do it anyway and remind yourself that you don't want to stay up late and be tired the next day. If you feel like stopping your homework while you're doing it, just either stop and take a deap breath, or take a ten minute break. For other things just do the same. It's the only way to get over it.
Not good at all. Try hard to concentrate very hard. You really do need to get more sleep, waking up 4 am, to do homework, is not good. You have got to tell yourself, to do your homework at a reasonable hour, so therefore you can sleep a little longer. You can't possibly function properly without the proper sleep. Listen to some relaxing music, read a book, take a relaxing shower, and your homework. I have faith in you, you can do it.
Nothing beats a failure but a try. You go boy.
Have a nice weekend.
Here are some words that everybody hates:
self discipline
personal responsibility and accountability
Try them!
1. Write a daily schedule and follow it.
or
2. Write down everything that you need/want to do. Prioritize the list. Then start with your #1 priority and continue with that goal until it is completed. Then go on to #2. Even if some things don't get done, at least you'll have accomplished the things that are most important to you.
I like Golden's answer. Make the list, then you can motivate yourself one task at a time.
the majority of procrastinators delay or put off things because they're actually afraid (some may be unconscious of it too) that the end result (or whatever you're putting off) will not be as great as you'd like, or as good as other peoples.
