Ahhhh. I have done that too. It is something I still contemplate, but less often, since it is so frustrating.
that same question has been bugging me for many years! i even got into trouble when i was a kid because i asked that question in catechism class & they didn't have the answers (or perhaps were afraid to think about it)...

I like the big bang theory: God spoke and BANG it happened.
Before the Big Bang, there was always the eternal Spirit.
You will need to define what that Spirit is. Your definition will be determined by your current emotional state, your experience and your level of exposure to scientific thoughts.
trying to imagine the begining of existance has always made me dizzy when I thought about it to hard. Maybe the reason you continue to think about it is that because you like the feeling.
This is a conversation for the circle. Neither science nor religion has an answer to the question of before.
Science talks about the big bang, but not before the big bang or about what's beyond the universe. Can there even be a boundary to the universe?
Religion talks about God, but not about where God came from or why he decided to make the universe so late, or early depending on your view.
Where did God hang out before he created Adam.
The only way I can get around it is to think that this is all a dream, my dream, and when I wake up something will make sense. I can't imagine the solution, that's why this is such a good dream.
That is one of the arguments with Religion and God. Now if God is the Creator, who created God?
