If you have the capacity to be a doctor then maybe it is something you should not totally throw out the window. Its a lot of hard work to be one but it pays off. The pursuit of music and singing do not have to be shelved. It is a competitive field and you may or may not make it there. If you are unique then I guess there is a good chance of your success in that area. Your being a doctor is not a low thing. I wish i had the capacity to even do it. But give yourself time. I know its hard to decide on what path to take at this age in your life. At 17 I pursued studies in Graphic design. I was really good at art but during my second year of studies i realized that art was a hobby for me.. not a career. It was a hard realization but I then went into what i really loved. Working with kids where i used my art and musical skills to enrich what I felt that I love doing.
One day it will all become clear to you. One day u may look back and say ..Gosh..i'm so glad that i did medicine and not go into music as a main career. Sweetheart.. you can have both.. in this day and age there are many talented doctors who have their solid career as well as kicking back with some cool beats and songs to balance their lives out. All work and no play makes you a sad boy. All play and no work makes u poor and living substandard. The shelf life of the music industry is not very long. But as a doctor you will have a long and successful career where you affect the lives of countless people with your skills:)

in the end, you're always gonna gravitate towards what you like, regardless. i understand your dillemma, im a college student as well. the hardest part about college for me so far has been my parents criticizing me. be ready for that..good luck
Find a college that has a good reputation and has majors that you could see yourself interested in. Do not going into medicine unless you love it! Because if you do, I won't want you as my doctor. You only have one conscious life to live and it's really hard to go back and change a path once you've chosen it. You want to give yourself a good foundation of schooling. Find something in the college that you can use in the future to help your music producing career. People do it! So can you! (And they make good money too!)
Go to college, take your pre-med classes, for your electives, when you have the time, take the music classes/voice classes, and see if it interests you. You have a better chance at become in physician than you do of becoming a pop or music star. It's a matter of doing what makes more sense. Think about your options, because the decisions you make now will affect the rest of your life.
Speak with your guidance counselor at your high school. If you have already graduated, speak to a student advisor at the college you plan to attend, tell them exactly what your interests are and what you wish to study to achieve your goals in the music industry!
