What's the ESSENCE OF BEING YOUNG?
Answer:
The essence of being young is intensity of experience brought on by a lack of context and perpective.
As one grows older, one accumulates a greater cache of experiences and daily life consists of fewer and fewer novel occurances. A large store of memories allows for even moderately novel experiences to be effortlessly (subconsciously) placed into context and therefore feeling less intense.
The aged often become practiced at "putting things in perspective", meaning to keep in mind which things are truly important in their lives. This grants the ability to assign a more or less accurate level of importance to experiential events that the young are incapable of.
