Is it harmful to one's emotional and mental well being to stand in the shadows of life and simply observe?

While it can be a good quality to stand and observe sometimes it can pose problems because a person may not take action upon a situation, even if action is necessary.

I need help on this topic, thankyou

Answer:
It can ruin your self worth that lead es to depredation and self loathing. You most take control of action upon situations if necessary
This only depends on the person who is standing in the shadows so to speak. Participation in life while offering the best of all possible rewards seems risky to some and therefore they choose to exist on the periphery of life. Having been here over 60 years, I look back and am grateful for every risk I took, loving many, even when rejected because the experience was amazing. I have learned so much from being IN life's adventure. I have been knocked on my face, behind and side, but still I have known for every second of my life that above all, I AM ALIVE. This is your ride, choose well my child.
Well the apt answer would be "In life u get what u give out"...So if u stand and observe thing without taking necessary actions, its good upto certain limit,But this will later turn into a habit and this habit of urs lead u to not handling situations when u really nead it..Later this will slowly cause depression in u and cause crumbling of ur self confidence...If still it is left unchecked,it has a probability of development of multiple personality disorder in u...
You answered your own question.
I think it depends a lot on your personality and point of view.
I think most people can observe and stay uninvolved without too much heart-ache or bother. Is it out of not caring or about
not wanting to invite trouble?
All people should develop contentment, gratefulness, and a sense of justice. People should all go out of their way to love someone, to take risks somehow, and live a passionate life. Otherwise you miss out on life.
I think of the Dalai Lama. He is quietly observant. He is at peace, he is passionate about his life, and he stands up for peace and justice in the world. He doesn't have to be loud, or intrusive, well-known, or rich to have a peacful, useful life.
If a person is quietly observant, and sees some horrible thing happen, and takes no action at all, like watching a kidnapping or domestic violence, then lack of action and/or interest may cause him to feel bad about himself, to question his motives, his courage, his care for others.
I think it would be fairly impossible to live any time at all on the planet and not DO anything about anything, and have any self-esteem, or even have a life that has meaning for yourself.
Our culture teaches us that we should be "good samaritans" and such. Some other cultures do not teach this. It is"playing
god."
We survive as a species because we help each other. "Action is necessary" in the eyes of the beholder.
Hope this helped.
