You always hear "They say this" or "THEY say you must not do that" who are the THEY?

"They" are people who know best
Your Parents.
"They" are the unknown experts a person calls upon when they want you to meet their needs, or do their will, or be right about something.

people who think they know every dang blasted thing!
THEY means OTHER people, not me , i'm not responsible. ok?
If you ask me, "THEY" does not exist. It is just a name that stands for the speaker. People uses "They say..." when they want to hide own opinion, and when they gossip...
a group of experts in whatever it is they are talking about. i.e they say you should eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day - they being expert nutritionists, they say the new die hard movie is brilliant - they being the movie critics, ect ect
"They" are the voices in someone else's head.
someone who agrees with them. most often experts in a given field or people who spread rumors/wives tales.

i try to use "it is sometimes said"
but its just easier to say "they"
