What is it called when a mother kills her children?

not the scientific/ psychiatric term, but the common complex (like the Oedipus complex).

i believe the reference for this term has to do with a slave woman who kills her child because she does not want it to suffer any longer.

starts with an M?

I wish I could help more, but I dropped the writing course that had us read about that topic for the first book. I couldn't deal with such disturbing subject matter at the time.

The Chinese may have several names for murdering infants. There is also Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy.

You wouldn't be thinking of euthenasia would you?

In this day and age I'm tempted to just call it thinning the herd. =\

At the same time:

Children will rise against parents and have them put to death.
— Matthew 10.21-22 & Mark 13.12-13
Maybe you're confusing it with Munchausen by proxy.
Nature

No, not crazy murder. It happens in nature all the time.
infanticide - is killing children or babies

Munchausen's - is where a mother makes sick or purposfully kills an infant/child while looking to be the hero working to save the child

Matricide - is killing ones own mother
The term "Medea Complex" is sometimes used to describe a parent--especially a mother--harming the child, but is more accurately used to describe "vengeful filicide". But Medea did not kill her children to prevent suffering, and she was a princess--not a slave.

Close enough. :)
okay he killed his father, and married his mother.eww.
I believe it's called "death by proxy"!
