How do the people who write dream dictionarys know that information?
Ive always wondered about that
Answer:
because they've made it up. There are some constants though like dreaming of loosing teeth means that you released some built up tension or told a secret that has "lift the weight from your shoulders" --------- which I've actually done, then dreampt.
I don't believe in dream interpritation though..
dreams are only a place for your mind (narrator if you will) to try to understand or disregard things (ideas) that haven't been fully processed.
its not a magic portal to solve all your fears and hopes.
most anyone can tell of meanings of dreams just pay attention to them.
We don't go to sleep to dream.
Simple, they make it up. With references.
i really dunno. but thats a good. question.
They research mythology, but also interview people (though not in the thousands, lol), and use "intuitive understanding" as well.
The thing is, dream dictionaries are quite subjective, what one book says something "means" may not agree with any other book, nor might it agree with what your own soul "thinks" something "means". Soul language is personal, and to try to "generalize" this symbolism is fruitless. One good example is the different meanings of the swastika symbol. To Jewish peoples, it is a life-threatening symbol (Hitler twisted a lot of things). But to the Norsemen, it was a sacred mark.
The best dream dictionary ever written is the one you write for yourself. When you get an "Ah-HA!" moment about some symbol, and what it means to *you*, and your soul "sings" when you "get" that, *that* is the beginning of your own famous dream dictionary. ;)
Commercial dream dictionaries are not "bad"... they do provide one with some place to start to look for the "meaning" that might resonate with them in the end. But to rely on them as "written in blood upon stone" is limitting. ;)
They just dream it up.
