Can someone that is mentally retarded be suicidal because of the fact that there mentally retarded?

What a sad question. I don't think mentally handicapped think that way.
My uncle had Down's Syndrome and he really didn't understand how people died, just that the people he knew went to heaven and he couldn't see them anymore. In fact, he usually knew they died before anybody else. He would tell my grandma that somebody was "gone" & grandma would tell him that "No, they're at home". He'd shake his head & repeat. About an hour later, she'd get a phone call notifying her of their death. Heck, he may have had a clearer understanding of what happens after death?
maybe you should ask, are mentally retarded people capable of suicide? well absolutely. just like yourself, you are capable of suicide too.
