I believe that collectively or individually that people so fundamentally inclined to believe in a "rapture" and intolerant of other belief systems added into the mix with powerful technologies for mass destruction, don't figure as a positive factor in the long-term prosperity or survival of the species.
Yes..it is biblical and it makes sense entirely. I think many people go through life and don't really accept the ramifications of what is in store for us. I would have to say it would totally suck being separated from God at that time and being left behind.

Heb 12:1 uses clouds as a group of holy people (living on earth).
Clouds are water that has risen from water on earth.
And in Revelations, the "sea where the harlot was sitting was " groups of sinners.
So we can raise to the cloud level now, spiritually while on Earth. After all, If we are standing around looking into the sky, we'd need to be brought back to earth to fix things here (as the angelsin Acts told the gathering when Jesus was taken up ... Why are you looking up?)
