Questions about School Psychology / School Psychologists?
I'm worried about job availability. I know schools have financial problems and have been laying off workers, and that there is often 1 school psychologist for four different schools. Will it be difficult to find a job?
Also, can I expect to make the same salary as a teacher - $40,000?
Finally, what sort of advanced degree do I need? Ph.D. in child psychology? Master's?
Answer:
This website has information about school psychology. It says all states except Maine and Hawaii only require a masters degree. Also, schools offer programs specifically in school psychology, so you'd want to enroll in one of those programs.
