Are we not destructing ourselves by way of polluting the environment this beatiful planet has provided us?

Answer:
Animals that foul their own nests are ignoble beasts. But, humans are not beasts. They, for whatever reasons there may in some greater paradigm of ecology than we can comprehend at this time, removed themselves from the food chain long ago and began to rise above the basal rhythms of their natural surroundings.

Humans are part of the body of Earth, though. Their construction naturally arises from the matter of the Earth and is shaped by the interconnected weave of the global ecosystem. I cannot help but wonder at times if this consumption and pollution of the globe is not like pregnancy in which a fetus consumes space within its mother, seemingly damages her body in gestation and childbirth, feeds off her, depletes her. And, although there is a mess and pain and a toll, the process bears natural fruit. It is a "natural" mess and disturbance of a woman's body.

I wonder if, as a construction of the matter of Earth, humans might be a part of a messy process that bears some sort of fruit, that the mess of the Industrial Revolution, even nuclear accidents and the pollution of the planet is some natural toll that is being exacted in order for us to achieve the technological maturity and comprehension of Nature's Laws in time enough for some global event that the long-term and ultimate destiny of the planet requires us to be ready for in some way.

I cannot help but wonder about the phrase, "Survival of the Fittest." No one ever asks, "Fit for WHAT?" Perhaps, constructions of different lifeforms evolve toward the level of knowledge required to prevent something from happening to the entire planet like this, or they perish in the recurring test:

ya we are ... the results global warming, acid rains etc .,, will beso devastating that one day the entire mankind will be erased out .. measures must be taken to control the pollution globally ..
In a way, I would definitely agree. Of course the damage to the environment is fairly slow, so most people might not care because the environment they die in will not be too much worse than the environment they were born into.

Bonus commentary: pollution is tragic, and landfills really frighten me. Global warming however is doubtfully our doing. Did we cause the ice age? There is a warming trend, but we our overestimating our contribution to this effect. Doesn't mean we can't impede it though.
Yes we are destroying ourselves upon consuming the resources of this earth to the meanest extent. Afterall, we are the only ones capable of such a thing.

To put it bluntly, through the endless consumption of mother nature along with the ever-worsening pollution we emit, we are the ones who are creating our own demise.
Absolutely...we are ruining the futures of our children, grandchildren, their children, so on and so forth. We need to keep doing our share to keep the air clean and conserve energy. We need to stop the litter altogether...there are so many things we all can do to preserve this planet...I sleep at night because I do what I can to maintain a beautiful world! Hats off to you for seeing the whole picture!
Yes, of course we are destructing ourselves by polluting the environment .The effect of green house gases ,global warming, polluted air for breathing, and polluted water for use are a few examples which may ultimately lead to negative influence on our lives. Deforestation leading to chronic flooding every year along with erosion of top fertile soil may lead to our agricultural land becoming totally non fertile and starvation may not be very far away.
Therefore, we are digging our graves ourselves.
we should have collective thinking to change our
character. we should know the life style.
True, already global warming has started heating up the earth.
This question reminds me of the title of a TV programme from the sixties: "Owing to lack of interest, tomorrow is cancelled".
that is the style of nature's working. nature works towards birth, sustenance and destruction. in fact, mankind on this mother earth plannet is a curse. as long as he exploits this plannet for selfish living without giving thought to conservation, to that extent the stability of the plannet is bound to affect. earth by now would have been bountiful but for human kind! this is reality and may not be reality for those who only think of one generation end!
