I keep having nightmares that I'm BACK working at my horrible old job, WHY?
Everytime I have this dream I keep saying "I'm not suppose to be here, WHAT am I doing back at this joint, ? I don't work here anymore!"
My former co-worker-who escaped the same restaurant-has similar dreams.
Its been 5 years since I left the place and I still have these dreams.
Someone told me that if I go back to the restaurant and dine there as customer, I will realize that I am "no longer" there and the nightmares I have about working there will go away.
Do you think going back to the restaurant will help me?
Answer:
I think it could--it could help bring some closure to that bad situation.
But also, since it's been so long, maybe deep down you feel like you havent moved on far enough, or gotten to where you wanted to go. I don't know what your situation is now, but maybe something is happening that reminds you of your restaurant experience, like feeling trapped or something.
So yeah, go back and dine there, and examine how far you've come. Good luck!
it sounds like the restaurant gig was a bad experience. But, that's life. We have both good and bad experiences. How we react to those experiences is the key.
Those negative thoughts are being presented to your awareness by your overactive ego. You can choose to obviate the force of your ego's plaintive pleas by relegating those bad experiences to the background of your consciousness.
You don't need to suppress these thoughts because you need to learn from them. But, you need not be obsessed with or controlled by them.
You need not go back to the restaurant to ease the mental anguish that you occasionally suffer from that bad experience. Just relegate those thoughts to the past and try to live completely in the present. That is where you will find joy and contentment.
