Can you identify my reading problem?

Sometimes I read something and I mix up letters...it is quite annoying...for example, I would read Carnicogen instead of Carcinogen.

Answer:
it's probably the well known (and well researched) reading disability called dyslexia. There is tons of information on it online.
Dislexia
well its a long confusing word, and i believe its natural to screw up words once in a while

Hi,
Diagnosing reading difficulties is a complex issue. We can't diagnose you here. Most of us are not professionals in this area. If you really worry about this, go and find an educational psychologist. They are specialised in this area and can give you a well balanced answer. I know you want a quick fix and answer, but it would be really wrong to diagnose you over an internet site.

Good luck.
Ignore all the "clever" people who spelt it with an "i" instead of a "y"! Not funny! It's a loan word from Greek so spell it with the Y!

Dyslexics and people with similar problems CAN learn to spell properly by memorizing words as visual patterns.

Yes you could be dyslexic? Do you also have trouble with spelling like reversing middle syllables or letters that are next to each other? Do you find it harder to read and more of a strain if the paper is glossy? Do you squint when exposed to certain types of lighting?

You will need to see a specialist if so.

Get yourself tested to see if you have a floating blindspot in your visual field and also you may need to wear tinted lenses for a while to rest your eyes.

Are you in school or college as maybe you can get free or discounted testing, counselling and therapy?
