Have you ever felt some kind of "nostalgia" when raining?

My mother tells me that i was born while it was raining, now whenever rains i feel this kind of "nostalgia" feeling, is it normal? am i crazy? or is there a psychological connection?

Answer:
Personally, I don't believe there's any "supernatural" connection between the rain at your birth and the feelings you get now when it rains.
It may be a matter of associational conditioning, in which you experience a certain feeling or emotion because your mother has talked about your birth. She may have explained the type of rain -soft, spring rain, cold drizzle, downpour, summer storm, etc. and when it rains this way, you think about your birth and get a special feeling.

When I was a child, our house had a metal roof. I can still almost hear the sound of a gentle rain on that roof - it was so soothing. I remember the handmade quilts that were on our beds - warm and cozy when the winter rains pelted the tin roof. And of course, storms were downright scary...

Certain types of rain today remind me of my childhood and the sounds of different kinds of rainfall.

Several years ago, I vacationed at a ranch in Maggie Valley, and the building had a tin roof. It was in the summer, and it rained there. Oh, the sound of that rain on the roof brought back so many memories! A truly lovely experience.
It is normal to make these connections. I also have a connection to the rain. It always makes me think of Paper dolls and Paddington Bear. Paper dolls because I remember my mom bought me them to keep me busy on a rainy day and Paddington Bear because we watched it once in pre-school when it was raining out.

The same things can occur with scents and music (or just sound in general.) A smell can bring back an old memory or moment in your life. And there are a number of songs that bring me back to my past.
woah that is soo cool...i dont know
its called anchoring
You are close. Theorists say that rain simply reminds us of the days when we couldn't play outside. I think it also makes us realize we need an umbrella and mud will cover our wheels. It's so nice to stay home on rainy days and enjoy them but, even then, dogs and cats come back inside our homes with little muddy feet!! Rain makes most people melancholy because it puts activities on hold.
It's just normal associations of feeling and scene, we are emotioal creature, and these feelings makes our life more beautiful.
Yeah when it rains I think of times in my past when it was raining and I get this wierd sinking feeling that time just slipped away from me...Actually this happens with other things too like songs. They create this wierd feeling that connects you back to years ago. It's hard to explain. It's a feeling that is good and uncomfortable at the same time.
