What are the factors influencing personality? how does perception affect personality?
Answer:
..Personality development is influenced by both heredity (nature) and learning (nurture), but mostly the latter.
Personality is an observable aspect of human behavior, a part of who we are as an individual. It is driven exclusively by processes in the brain.
So the key to understanding personality development is understanding brain development. A good analogy is a digital computer. You are born with a brain, a product of heredity - the "hardware" of mental processing. Over time, you learn mental skills, the "software" and acquire knowledge and information, the "data" of mental processing.
A good definition of personality is the way you have learned learned to deal with the everyday challenges of work and life. The general trend or style of your behavior.
Perception does contribute to personality development - whether you learn to favor conceptual thinking (front brain) or perceptual (back brain) thinking. Also, whether you learn to favor logical (left brain) or associative (right brain) thinking. Also, whether you prefer to spend more time in reflection (internally, in thought) or action (externally, expressing thought in behavior).
A good personality framework and test is MindFrames, the only personality test I know about that is based exclusively on decades of research in cognitive neuroscience. You can take it free online. For more information click on About MindFrames.

Yo Curious,
Jennifer isn't entirely correctly. It's hard to say how much genetics and environment influence your personality.
One thing is for sure, both of them have an influence. People that are considered good looking (symmetrical faces) report that they have more satisfied social relations with other people. This is because they receive more attention as a child and people are encouraging them to be more extroverted.
So what am I saying is that both factors are important in shaping personality.
