What would make someone want to move as far as possible away from the home they grew up in?

Answer:
Sometimes we want to experience different things, as human beings. There's a great big world out there filled with different people, opportunities, etc.

The culture in some areas is quite different from others. I moved, excited about the prospect of experiencing people with different attitudes. Sometimes people want a kind of culture that isn't provided in their hometown.. sometimes they have an interest that cannot be fulfilled by staying in the same town.

Sometimes they are just searching for themselves. Often people feel as if they've been controlled or following a set path for a long time and just want to be "themselves" - and a new area seems to facilitate that.
A drive to achieve their goals on their own is one suggestion.
Their Family Life!
people pissing them off. look at my latest question and see an example
So they can be a **.
Most likely a very unhappy home life situation. Less likely, but definitely possible, a traumatic experience or series of experiences in school or in the community.
Wanting a big change in life. I moved away from home twice. I still live away from home. I did it because I needed to become more independent and learn how to live on my own. Although there are many reasons a person might move away. I know that I got bored and wanted to meet new people, and my family is crazy so I needed some serious space all the way across the country. I also think that I had to find my own journey in life and see what fit me best and what I like and didn't like. I hope this helps ;-}
New experiences, bad experiences, expand their horizons, they are tired of being stifled.
A prophet is not heard in his own land!
Maybe they felt emotionally suppressed. That all their life they have been tied down to their regular lives and they just wanted to break free of that mold.
Bad memories
Something stifling their growth. Identity issues. Family dynamics. Boredom. Pain.
Hey,
I think that more than running "to" something or someone, a person may be running "from". Maybe some painful memories or maybe a feeling of a dead end life. I'm answering this question because I was doing both! It's not easy to leave though. Even going to a different market is frustrating cuz you don't have any usual routine to fall back on.......Tink
