How would your life be enriched? If you were to live each day as if its your last?

Lets just say you were to live until old age, which will probably be the case. I ask this question becuase we often take life for granted. How would your life be different if lets say you knew you did not have much time on this planet . What would you accompolish spiritualy, material or both. I am interested in your imput. And no Im not dying or anything I just wonder if any one lives by this principle or has thought about this.

Answer:
..Well, let's just state for starters that every one of us could die tomorrow. Realistically. Today in my community, the news reported the deaths of two young women in a car accident. Not their fault. The bottom line...NONE of us know when our time will come, or how. Assuming we're going to live until we're 95 is nice, but that's just a kind of best-case scenario hopeful thinking.

As Carlos Castaneda wrote, "Death is always with arm's reach."

Appreciating this fact helps us to live each day as if it could be our last. The benefit to this is that we are less likely to waste the time we have. That changes our decision making. For example, you might be less likely to invest time in a relationship that causes you problems or fails to enrich your life. You might decide to go ahead and start doing something that really matters to you. What really matters to you will become more clear...which will make you a more decisive person.

You will pay closer attention to the wonders and beauty of the world around you. Less time watching stupid TV shows. You'll create more days that glow in memory. You'll do more things that you don't regret. You'll build more meaning into your life.

I'd call that a more enriched life. Alas, this is not the perspective of 99% of people. If they get to contemplate life at the end, they are in danger of concluding, "I wasted it.I wish I had."
I've had a premonition that I will die at 44 and as it is I take every day as it comes. That's not to say I don't ever plan ahead, I just don't think I'll make it to old age.

As for accomplishments I have very little need for this beyond basic peace of mind, although if I have a free choice it would be to fulfill the potential that I have already proved to myself to be capable of.

When I was a kid, I had dreams for my future life that I have surpassed in some ways beyond my wildest imaginings so I guess I have been pretty lucky to be alive.
Your life would not be enriched, you would be preoccupied with death, life is not about accomplishing things, its about being yourself and living in a way thats makes you feel comfortable.
