can somebody please give me a generalized answer to these questions about OCD:

1. how do obsessions affect a person?
2. what are some common things obsessed over?
3. how are these obsessions handled in therapy?
4. how are compulsions brought on by obsessions?
5. how do compulsions negatively affect someone's life?
6. how are compulsions handled in therapy/what methods are used?

Answer:
1. The person who is affected cannot concentrate on anything but that obsession when something has set it off.
2. Germs and tidyness are very common.
3. Sorry, I don't know.
4. They feel that they absolutely have to fix whatever is bothering them. No matter what they tell themselves, they aren't satisfied until it's taken care of.
5. If it's something like germs, they can really be afraid to touch people or feel the need to carry hand sanitizer everywhere... if it's cleaning they may have to vaccuum their house for several hours every night, etc.
6. Sorry, I don't know.
Well compulsions are coming out of your reactive mind and lets you do things that you usually would sensibly not do. Like you need to speed on the highway. It just need to be done. This is reactive and is handled in erasing the reactive mind
