Anyone else have a temper problem? What do you do about it?
Someone suggested I take anger management classes... I don't think these would work though..
Answer:
Controlling a temper (anger) is like trying to control fire. You won't conquer it instantly overnight. It begins by not allowing yourself to go off in a heartbeat. The more you give into it, the quicker you will ignite in future circumstances. The more you control it the longer you can extend that control. At some point you get a few moments to reflect before you commit yourself to your anger, to evaluate whether it's truly warranted or appropriate. Being angry isn't always wrong, it's the actions you take as result that can determine your guilt.
My husband has a horrible temper sometimes. When he tries to start an argument, sometimes I just start laughing. He tends to shake his head at me, laugh and walk off. Somehow it diffuses the situation.
1. I personally Have one but i Have learned to control it, if something is making u mad address the issue, speak Ur mind and let out that anger, but be warned to the amount of anger u release, u must Have self control, it is Hard for some to control it but i know u can do it, never bottle it up or ull explode and end up Hurting someone, if u get mad at someone et away from them, walk away
I unfortunately have a temper on me which i inherited from my dad, it is different for everyone how to control it! I personally find that taking deep breaths and thinking of my mom calms me down! (however this is not the case when it is her i am angry with!) lol. In which case i scream into a pillow or cushion! Sorry, it's the best i can do! x
My daughter (15) and I go to parenting classes because our arguments escalate into nasty fights... anyway, we had a recent fight and the walking away didn't work out as well as we hoped. so our teacher gave us a great idea that I'm hoping will work a little better.
It's hard to remember when you're angry the things we're *supposed* to do. so we made up a list of alternate options for our frustrations when we are in the "heat of" the argument. The list has many options and is in our hallway so we can see it right away.
For example our list has on it: take a walk, take a 5 minute break, journal, music, kick or scream into a pillow, take a walk to 7-11 to buy ?? (we have an extra $5 attached to the back of the list), ... .anyway there's more stuff on there.
So when the heat is on and we are screaming at each other, this list is posted in the hallway, where our arguments usually start, so that either one of us can find something QUICK that will work.
We just got this suggestion, so I don't know for sure if it will work, but it sounds like a wonderful idea.
Maybe you can adjust it to fit your situation.
Buy and wear the Q-Link. Check out golf supply houses. Mine works great .It helps patience levels up in trying times, like traffic , rude people , etc.
I had a anger problem when I was younger and got into alot of trouble because of it. I finally figured out it wasn't worth it. I quit associating with people who brought out the worst in me. I even noticed some of these people antagonized me just to watch me blow. Try to quit caring so much about what other people say or think of you, who the hell are they anyways.
Yes I have a temper problem what I do is go to counseling.
