Do you have any tips on maintaining a normal life after intense study?

I just got out of at least six to seven years of intense training at University. I have the tools to succeed, but the clash is applying versus experimenting. So, the think before you talk/write, clause is making my life miserable. Does anyone with the same issue have any tips?

Answer:
..I always think carefully before I talk or write. What's wrong with that? Nothing abnormal about that. If University taught you to do that, it's a good thing, not a bad thing. It reduces the chance that you'll say or do something stupid.

I think the real challenge is to transition from an academic approach to life to a practical one. Here's a thought for you - I have a Ph.D., and 95% of everything valuable that I know today I learned on my own after formal education. So learning continues, but you can choose areas of learning that relate to your passionate interests and success in life.

At work, your new perspective should be less "know the answer" and more "get it done." Less reliance on book learning, and more reliance on know-how and real-world solutions you can learn from your colleagues.

At home, you should have more time for passionate interests and friends. Just go for it!
