Is it possible to meditate yo a state where imaginary things seem real?
For example, I've recently heard of a person meditating about having a tail and they claim to have really been able to feel it.
Another example- a person mediates about walking through a forest. Their imagination then becomes so vivid that it seems like it is real. Like a dream, but a dream while awake.
Answer:
Yes. But, what is the dream and what is not? Are they not one and the same?
Edit:
It is simply called a "mindful state". When achieved, there are measurable physiological effects, including an increase in the electrical activity in the areas of the cerebral cortex and an increase in communication between the two hemispheres of the brain. There is an increased EEG "harmony", increased blood flow to the brain and muscle relaxation, decrease in stress hormones and respiratory rate, increased efficiency of information transfer throughout the brain, increased stability of the autonomic nervous system, faster recovery from stress, faster reactions and faster reflex responses. One way to achieve a "mindful state" is through biofeedback in which you can quickly direct your body to "learn" how to reach the appropriate physiological conditions involved. Another way is to seek out a sensi who will sit with you and teach.
Have you ever had a realistic dream? if the brain can produce it it can be reproduced. but it would take a lot of control.. something your average Joe is nowhere near practiced enough to have.
Wow if that is true I'm going to meditate and imagine being with that girl next door!!!!!!
of course, Native Americans go on "vision quests" all the time and they place themselves away from the physical and seem to get answers from their visions, depending on what they seek answers for.
Pretty cool, the power of the mind.
one name is called lucid dreaming and that is such a dream where you are conscious of yourself dreaming. Lucid dreaming is considered a form of meditation and it is very real. some even claim to be able to leave there body in reality if you can gain enough control over the lucid dream with willpower. personally I believe lucid dreaming is an amazing phenomenon for I often have dreams where I realize I am dreaming and find myself able to control every aspect of the dream including personal appearance and appearance of everything around you, I have even been able to will myself to fly and move things around without interacting with them. one way to practice meditative states where you can achieve such is through Kundalini. If you want to be able to do it then find out as much as you can about Kundalini; It's very complex and involves yoga positions and coordinating breath, but can be very fulfilling.
