Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Answer:
The answer is in the eye of the observer and here's my observation:

Assuming that the chicken and the egg are the same 'being' and the problem is defined recursively that the egg must be laid by the chicken which becomes the chicken who laid the egg. As an example this is what happens:

The Chicken lays the egg. The egg hatches and becomes the chicken who then travels back in time and lays the egg then continues with it's life. Infinitely this occurs in a time paradox whereby the chicken and the egg have always existed and one did not come before the other.

But then you have the problem: For an egg to hatch then the chicken must be fertilized by a roster so in actual fact before the chicken can lay the egg that becomes the chicken then a roster must exist. If the roster exists outside of the time-space continuum paradox then we can deduce that the question shouldn't be just simply chicken/egg it must be defined to incorporate the roster!

In which case the roster exists at a time temporally before the chicken and the egg.

Because the chicken and the egg exist in an infinite time paradox then you need to expand your understanding of time and see that parallel time reference points and two unique universes converge to a singular point - the infinite looping time universe of the chicken and egg collides with the straight uniform universe of the roster. So temporally the roster came first but in terms of time in length it came last as it doesn't fit into the infinite universe that the chicken and egg do and dies a short time after getting laid by the chicken.

As observers we belong to the uniform universe where we see the roster, we see the chicken and we see the egg.

Because we are unable to comprehend the infinite universe that paradoxically exists 'because it can' we can either spend our temporal time of life pondering the question or we can destroy the marvelous mystery and simply crush the egg when the chicken lays it and destroy the infinite universe because the chicken can no longer exist and there is no chicken to lay the egg we break the notion that this universe of infinity exists and forget all about the answer we found.

This of course will result in a completely new paradox where if we crush the egg then the chicken no longer exists to lay the egg and we are no longer able to observe the egg being crushed because it no longer exists so we don't crush it. At this point the universe will implode and everything will no longer be.

In short the answer to the chicken and egg can't be logically solved without destroying the universe so do not attempt it!
doesn't matter. the fact is both are available and it's not worth wondering.
Since eggs are actually cells, and since single celled organisims developed before entire mammals, I think maybe that could be one way of looking at it and saying that since cells come first, the egg came first too : )
according to the forever truthful source that is CNN, the egg
They formed simultaneously :-) That's probably not the scientific answer, but that's the way I see most things in life...you can't have one thing without the other, like night and day, male and female, earth and sky. Same with the chicken and the egg...the egg wouldn't form if it weren't for the purpose of growing a chicken and the chicken wouldn't form if it didn't have an egg to contain it.
the egg
the chicken came during sex and gave birth to the egg
You can't have a chicken without an egg.
You can't have an egg without a chicken.

That's the trick. Stop trying to solve it, because you don't know ****.

My Answer: Who cares?
Eggs have been around alot longer than Chickens, so the Egg.

As for chicken eggs, well, the egg, which a chicken then grew inside of. Before the chicken became the chicken, it was some other bird. Over the course of evolution it became the chicken, but the egg would of had to have been lain for the chicken to grow inside of it. There for, the egg came first.
