How do you know what your career should be for college? for later in life?
Answer:
You can always start college as a undeclared, and see what you like from the classes you take. You are right some people settle for jobs. I couldn't. I worked hard for my dream, and after a long fight, I am close (psychologist). It wasn't easy, but you know, we have to remember that we have one life, and it is to enjoy not simply get through. A job is not the most important thing, so I guess it could be sacrificed for other things (for me family is important, I love my kids, and they make me the happiest). But don't quit on trying to change the world. Only small groups ever have.
I am finally doing what I want to do, but I didn't even know it was what I wanted until I was in my 30s. My advice is go for what you WANT to do, because it's the best chance of giving you satisfaction, even if it doesn't pay a huge amount of money. Also, more and more people these days end up having several different careers during their working lifetimes, so switching careers down the road isn't frowned on like it used to be. Finally, your first job usually isn't going to be your dream job, even if it's in your dream field. We all have to start somewhere. Go for it.
