How can you treat the subject of drinking/driving while trying to persuade readers of your point of view?

depends on your point of view. hopefully you're arguing against it. i've given up on trying to convince people that they're impaired. no one wants to hear that. and the drunker the more they believe theyll be ok. i just point out that at .08 you will go to jail, pay a hefty fine, and loose your license. it doesn't matter if you're really impaired at that point or not. the price of a cab is much cheaper and conevient than that.

Why is alcohol legal? With all the people that are killed by drunk drivers and all the peoples and families lives that are troubled by it. Why is this not a question in everyones minds.
Marijuana is illegal and it causes people to play video games and raid the fridge. those people are no danger to society.
Be truthful about it and don't give them any bull****. I'd admit that I got a DUI and the major thing that convinced me that I am an idiot was the counselor. He was very upfront and often had open discussions. He gave his truthful opinion and views about DUI. He didn't focus about how wrong it is, that's a no brainer, but he tried, and succeeded with me, to convince people it has nothing to do with being fair just accept responsibility because if you don't they will! It was amazing during those meetings how many accepted the fact that DUI was wrong, they knew it, but somehow thought it was unfair they are convicted and punished. That was over two years ago and I can remember almost every word he said in those meetings. I don't want to forget.
