Why do people fear confrontation?

Answer:
It's related to a fear of change. People, in general have a very set view of who they are and their place in the world and have spent time and effort being comfortable with it. Confrontation threatens to shake up who they are in their own and others' views. Confrontation also involves a declaration of negative thoughts which has become very taboo in our age.
Do they? My creditors have no problem with it.
Simple answer: They don't want rejection and disappointment
More complex answer: I'd rather not confront you with the more complex answer
I don't. If some one has a problem i'd rather be told face to face than hear by rumour. Same applies if say my fly is undone, silly things like that, but as the saying goes "a real friend will tell when you have spinach stuck in your teeth". Would you rather be told it's stuck in your teeth or walk around with it in your mouth all day?
Not all people necessarily fear confrontation. Those that don't show any emotion at all, especially in the face of violent confrontation, may be lacking something psychologically speaking. Confrontation often stimulates the "fight or flight" portion of the brain causing certain glands to produce hormones that may cause shaking, nausea, tears, even the urge to void the bladder and/or bowel! Those symptoms are not necessarily fear.
I THINK THAT PEOPLE FEAR CONFRONTATION BECAUSE THEY THINK THAT THINGS COULD GET OUT OF HAND AND A FIGHT MAY START OR THAT THEY MAY HURT SOMEONE'S FEELINGS OR LOSE A FRIEND. BUT ME PERSONALY I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT I THINK THAT IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY YOU SHOULD GO AHEAD AND SAY IT.
because human beings are really just animals...fear is the key to survival and that is that is why its in our nature to fear confrontation...fear keeps us alive...although some specimens may inherit a more intense predisposition towards fear than others...specimens who have little to no capacity for fear are known as "sociopaths"...
They fear being ridiculed and publicly embarrassed. They are afraid of being faced with the responsibility having done someone or something wrong. They recoil at having a nerve hit-that the other person will point out an innate flaw within them. There are so many different reasons for various situtions and people.
