Which is most valuable, experience or expertise?

Do you laud common sense as more important than education and believe that common sense comes from objective observation and experience? Or, do you push that education is of paramount importance and strongly believe in mental preparation, hitting the books, understanding the theories and learning the names and details.

Answer:
Both are valuable because you can't be an expert without experience. Take for example you are a teacher. You need to experience teaching so that you can become an expert teacher. You do not eventually become and expert without some field of experience. You have to have an experience so that hand in hand with your experience you can now become an expert. You do prove yourself that you are an expert because you work hard, you experienced the work, and now you are an expert because you are specializing example your teaching profession.
Without common sense you will never be able to reach expertise. But in general, I really believe you can't become an expert at something without experience (at least as far as jobs or life goes) you can read books and become an expert ina topic but I am not sure where that will get you. Great question
Taught is one thing, but would you like to be the first patient of a brain surgeon, or the 50,000? I take experience.
