Do you have the same old fear?
I am wondering. When we are young, we were told by our elders what to do. We are expected to follow their instructions deligently or else we will be reprimanded. This can happen right in our own homes or in school. Sometimes, school can be so strict the headmaster can even caned us.
As such, on many occasions, when we complied with orders from the top, we complied because of the fear in us. We would be afraid if we did not carry out the instructions accorded, there would be unimaginable consequences.
However, as you grow older, do you feel like this? In your place of work, do you still fear your boss or supervisor like you fear your headmaster.
Do you have the same fear if you had done something wrong? Will you fear the unimaginable consequences?
In short, do you treat your boss like your former headmaster or your parents? Do you have the same fear of them like you fear your former headmaster? Do you tremble when your boss gives you a dressing down for what you had done?
Answer:
This truely depends upon your life situation out of work.
If you desperately need the job and you would find it hard to get another job then you will fear losing it.
If you are financially set, not meaning wealthy, but maybe your wife has a good job too. Then you may have the ability to say your mind and not worry if you lose the job or not.
So it all depends on what you can or will risk to save humility.
:O)
nah... personally i dont fear my boss like i fear my headmaster
I too experienced this type of personal self worth feeling and eventually found that to find your way out you must have confidence in yourself and a sense of personal values that are not a conglomoratoin of what everyone else thinks we ought to be.. Do not let other make you feel inferior and steal your thunder. Rise up for what you believe as an adult. Dont let people guess about who or what you are. Take a what you see is what you get attitude. You may feel ackward at first, but when people start coming to you for your opinion and advice, many doors closed by your own inhibitions and fears will soon and open and reveal portions your personal courage and growth by your becoming a person of your own right.
Yes, yes and yes! Not good when you think about it... however ..isnt it interesting that a lot of youth these days are not as polite and respectful of elders/bosses/parents because this fear based style is not as acceptable and not used as much any more. Thats not good either.
Wonder what the answer is?!
To some extent what you said may be correct, but society is an institution which trains us about our behaviour and compell us through its branches like family school and elders
by means of love affection and punishment. But every one will not take the punishment given by parents and teachers as mentioned by you since there are some sweet memories also there along with the bitter ones, we should never forget how were we treated in our childhood how were we treated as infants. And such treatment does not create fear towards others just like our bosses. Our fear towards our bosses is nothing but the outcome of our insecurity.
I know what your talking about and I don't have that fear anymore.I have grown older and a little wiser. My boss is a big A,but I don't fear him,I feel sorry for him. He's miserable and he wants everyone to feel the same way.
Many blessings,
Margaret.
No I do not fear my boss. I am actually really good friends with my boss. I understand what you mean, but I think there comes a point in this "growing up" process when we learn we are equals whether or not is is an authority figure or not. Of course we still need to respect our boss/authority, but we can make it fun. We can also get really good friends out of it too. I get along with just about everybody, and I get along with my co-workers great as well as my boss. Have fun and enjoy doing it!! Have a nice day ;-}
I go one step beyond that , I was taught that when you do wrong then you get the consequences of that wrong, and when you do right you get rewarded for that right. so as I got older when Ido something wrong, I feel horrible regardless if their is someone waiting to repremanc me or not. I punish myself just fine, I am my worst punisher.
