I've just noticed how destructive self righteousness can be for oneself and society as a whole. I see it harmful in the aspect of prejudging others (making their life more miserable) and yourself as well as blinding your perception. I also see it as the root of gossip. Any comment on the subject is welcome...

I define it as a person who thinks that only his beliefs are correct and other beliefs which don't conform to his notions should be given no consideration or respect.
Much of human conflict is a direct result of self righteousness. It is a trait that becomes ingrained in many individuals and cannot be shaken by fact or persuasion.
It happens when a person is a little 'too sure' of their opinions.
