I have a interview for a big promotion and i am nervous - any ideas to keep me calm?
Answer:
Act confident and you'll be confident. Look them in the eye and tell the truth!
Very important to remember: when you do interview, let them know what you can do for THEM. So many applicants, both outside and inhouse, only focus on what the job will bring them, how much money they'll make. Employers want to know what will you contribute. The question of will you give back more than they pay out to have you (salary, benefits) is always in the front of their minds!
Visualize yourself already in the job, fulfilling the responsibilities, discharging the duties successfully.
Breathe.ommmmmmmmmmmmmmm
And knock 'em dead. Best of luck.
You have little control over whether or not you are going to be promoted. Most times it is already decided. Or you are being offered a position and you get a chance to turn it down. That is usually how it works. Do not be to eager. Ask questions about responsibilities and their expectations from you in this new position.
ya try not to think about it. keep your mind busy so the thought of it doesn't enter your mind causing you to become nervous again.
try some breathing excercises; or just try thinking of something that usually relaxes you...and then remember you're good! You're there for the interview because they think you're good so be confident, breathe and go get im!!
good luck!!
Might sound stupid but I have always heard to picture the person interviewing you naked.. lol..I heard it works..
Red and BlondeRabbit are right. A common tendency for someone who is nervous is to breathe in a shallow manner. Several deep breaths will calm you down by providing you plenty of oxygen. Even imagine all of your nervous thoughts flowing out of your body as you exhale. I do this before giving a speech or lecture.
The idea about picturing a person naked can backfire. I have done this and got grossed out by the mental image. lol
