Actually, there are seven distinct types of intellegences.
1. Linguistic
This kind of intelligence enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles.
2. Logical-Mathematical
Lots of logical intelligence are interested in patterns, categories and relationships. They are drawn to arithmetic problems, strategy games and experiments.
3. Bodily-Kinesthetic
Process knowledge through bodily sensations. They are often athletic, dancers or good at crafts such as sewing or woodworking.
4. Spatial
Think in images and pictures. They may be fascinated with mazes or jigsaw puzzles, or spend free time drawing, building with Leggos or daydreaming.
5. Musical
Musical poeple are always singing or drumming to themselves. They are usually quite aware of sounds others may miss. These kids are often discriminating listeners.
6. Interpersonal
Poeple who are leaders among their peers, who are good at communicating and who seem to understand others' feelings and motives possess interpersonal intelligence.
7. Intrapersonal
These people may be shy. They are very aware of their own feelings and are self-motivated.

Who knows nowadays with the way people make up new terms but it's SUPPOSED to be that there is one kind of intelligence. Intelligence means mental ability. It's different from knowledge, which is what you know. Intelligence means you can consider several variables at once and move information quickly and well though your mind. It's independent of other things.
Many. There are book smarts and street smarts and people smarts etc. People can be smart on certain subjects just like doctors specializing in certain areas.

That's a hard one but here is something to think about.If a person has a PHD and is miserably unhappy and another person is mentally handicapped and happy who is the more intelligent?
I recon the doc has got some good answers, however I feel emotional intelligence and intuition (smarts) is left out. there is tha artificial sort (computers) which have no emotion therefore no real idea.
